The children that ORC treats are born with cleft lip and palate deformities, as well as scarring resulting from severe burns (often the result of cooking in the home with gasoline).
Without the aforementioned surgeries, these children would live a life of ostracism, and ridicule. Due to their limited speech development and physical deformity, these children are often seen as being mentally handicapped, resulting in them being barred from attending school and eventually succumbing to a shadowy existence within the confines of their homes.
Through the efforts of ORC, these children are able to lead normal lives, attend school, form lasting social bonds, become thriving members of their communities, and perhaps most importantly – share each of their wonderful smiles with those around them.
